The HarriCyn Junior History Club met at the Cynthiana Harrison County Museum on Saturday, Jan 13th. This month’s meeting focus was Sports in Harrison County. Longtime Cynthiana resident Charlie Brunker spoke to the club’s junior historians. Charlie delivered some wonderful memories of his time playing for the Harrison County Thorobreds and Eastern Kentucky University Colonels’ basketball teams. Charlie has achieved an accomplishment that no other Harrison Countian has. He played in the Sweet 16 State Tournament in 1967 AND played in the 1972 NCAA National Tournament. In addition, local PE Teacher Scott Fields and Fillies Basketball Coach Jeff Kinney shared the history of some of the museum’s important sports memorabilia. The club members then chose some of those artifacts to present for a special “sports” display on the front table in the museum.
