The Great Museum Treasure Hunt 2018
The Cynthiana Harrison County Museum held its summer Treasure Hunt for school age children his summer. With the help of the Cynthiana Democrat the Museum’s goal is to provide school-age children the incentive to come into the museum and learn about the history of their county.
Mary Beth Thomas of Leono’s and The Rohs Opera House provided every child that walks into the museum for the Treasure Hunt a voucher for a free mini pizza and a movie pass. We at the museum assisted all kids in finding the treasure if they had difficulty. The idea was to get them into the museum - not to make it hard. During the search, we gave information about what they saw and answered questions about the treasures or other artifacts they were interested in. Participants were asked to answer a few ‘specific’ questions about the week’s ‘treasure’. The 8 different “treasures” were located throughout the museum so if a child participated each week - they had a chance to go through the entire museum.
